Millennium Docs Against Gravity

A leading European doc festival that celebrates bold and socially engaged cinema, this year's edition took place in Poland May 15–17.

✦ Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić’s To Hold a Mountain won the Grand Prix Bank Millennium Award

Premios Platino

Recognizing excellence in Ibero-American cinema, the ceremony highlights outstanding achievements across the region and took place in the Mexican Riviera Maya on May 9. 

Petra Costa’s Apocalypse in the Tropics won the award for Best Ibero-American Documentary

South Asian Film Festival of Montreal

The festival showcasing South Asian storytelling and diasporic voices across film genres was held May 1–10.  

✦ Chithra Jeyaram’s Love Chaos Kin won the Jury Award for Best Feature Documentary

South East European Film Festival in Los Angeles

Highlighting cinema from Southeast Europe and its global diaspora, the festival was held April 20–May 9.

✦ Alisa Kovalenko’s My Dear Theo won an Honorable Mention for Best Cinematography in Documentary Film 

Gopo Awards

Romania's national film awards took place April 30.
