Heather Courtney (she/her) is an Emmy-winning filmmaker and a Guggenheim, Sundance, and Fulbright fellow. Her film Where Soldiers Come From (POV 2011) won an Emmy, an Independent Spirit Award, and a SXSW Jury Award. Her other films include Breaking the News (Tribeca, Independent Lens 2023), The Unafraid (Full Frame Human Rights Award, America ReFramed 2018), Letters From the Other Side (Slamdance, PBS Plus 2006), and Los Trabajadores (SXSW Audience Award, IDA Award, Indy Lens 2001). She has been supported by the Ford Foundation Just Films, the Sundance Doc Fund, the MacArthur Foundation, ITVS, and Impact Partners, among others.
